Along the lines of the St George Which Miles used to get the better of Karpov. I could be wrong but thinking that the St George was an adaptation of Owen's defence.

At 13:15 did you reverse forward and back? You say ‘the knight does not go forward it will go back’ but the lines you show has the knight moving forward

Great video: Superb instruction. I just discovered these videos this week, thankfully. I will give 1…b6 a thorough study and learn from my losses and draws. In combination with the video on the Larsen's opening 1.b3 (actually, I seem to confront 1.Nf3 with my main reply being 1…d5 2.b3 and, though quite similar, the theory is slightly different but I am certainly not a master player), I am motivated to avoid giving up 1.b3 due to such poor past results. Thanks for the video and I hope to discover why this particular opening has proven more difficult for me than more complicated openings (and I do understand the ideas of the openings I use most often).

What do you do if when you move your Bishop to B4, and they move their pawn to A3? If you drop back to A4, then they can move the knights pawn to B3.
But Nc3 is a move you don't want to make with white in this setup

3.Nf3-Bg4 or 3Nf3-Nf6 than g6

i actually was in my chess academy, and played this exact opening and won! it is truly so powerful. now my favorite opening as black 🙂
The proper way in this opening to defend the e4 pawn; Bd3. The C pawn must remain mobile in case white needs to play c3 or c4 in the future and developing a knight on c3 is going to get it pinned. White is also a move closer to castling Kingside with Bd3. I would give Nc3 a '?' here meaning it is a bad move.
I know I’m late to the party but holy cow man this opening has got me out of a rut. same with b3 for white. So tricky to play against finally got me back to 1800 thanks you! Definitely my favorite opening

My father (Yuogslav) opens as white with this at least 90% of the time. And half the time he'll double it. It's always kept me on my toes.
What if their response to pinning the knight is to go pawn a3? I'm totally shit at chess, so my first instinct is to kick it tf out.

At 12:03 you point out that the bishop can't go away. But if Bd3, then Nxd4 doesn't work because of Ba6+! Thanks for this very instructive lesson.
