In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov is presenting to you the 6 best chess opening traps in the Alekhine’s Defense, which happens after the moves: 1.e4 Nf6.

Black tempts White’s pawns to go forward to form a broad pawn centre, with plans to undermine and attack White’s structure later in the spirit of hypermodern defense. White’s imposing mass of pawns in the centre often includes pawns on c4, d4, e5, and f4.

The traps that Igor is presenting to you are easy to implement in YOUR games. No matter what Black plays, your moves almost remain the same.

  16. You won't believe it right before a 3 min daily tourney on lichess, I only had time to learn the first trap and it worked so well. Time learn the rest. Thanks

  17. 13:11 Instead of 2Nd5 my opponent plays 2Ne4.
I’ve replied with d4 and as I’m checking Black’s possibilities I would say that 3.. d6 leads to a lot of pressure on the Night.
3..f6 could even lead to losing the Rook. Are we talking trap number 7 here? 😮

  18. I'm looking for a trap I found before after 1.e4 Nf6
    2.e5 Nd5
    3.c4 Nb6
    4.a4 d6
    5.a5

  19. Isn’t there a trap along the a file somehow for white? I’ve fallen into the trap with the bishop sacrifice and the one where the white knight goes back after the line with d5 played.

  20. What's the move if they kick the bishop out? That's usually what beginner players do.

  21. As an Intermediate I am not moving my night 4 times and wasting my time

  22. Could you make a video showing traps and the how to play Alekhine with black? 🙏🏼
